    This course familiarizes students with the various issues and news events taking place in the world and how these events affect our lives.  Local, state, national and world news items will be featured.  The major objectives are to promote inquiry through presentation and debate of conflicting viewpoints and to assign students to discover and reflect upon societal problems relevant to their lives.  It will provide opportunities to apply techniques of investigation and inquiry to the study of significant problems or issues.
